Write Your Novel in 13 Weeks
"If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." -- African Proverb

But what if you can go fast and far?

Join with other young writers in this 13-week session to weave unforgettable characters into unexpected stories. You'll meet weekly, alternating classes on the art of writing and the science of meeting deadlines, with small critique groups.

You'll develop a plot, and learn how to keep your readers turning pages late into the night. You'll pick up important practical skills (like why and how to keep back-up copies of your work) and how to provide and receive constructive feedback. Maintaining momentum and staying on track is a core life skill, and you'll get lots of practice here balancing an inherently creative art (with all kinds of delightful rabbit holes) with the science of conscientiousness. And did I mention peer pressure?  We're getting over the finish line together, so run hard, run fast, and run as a team.

At the finish line, you'll have better writing skills, improved life management techniques, and a host of new friends who will push you to live up to the potential they know you have. The completed first draft of your novel will almost be incidental.

Recommended age group: The courses are designed for high-school students. Exceptional younger writers will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The session is built around critique groups and will require a minimum of 6 students.

About your instructor: Amelia Waters, writing as Jade Kerrion, is an award-winning, USA Today bestselling author of more than 20 science fiction and fantasy novels. She loves coaching and mentoring writers, and especially enjoys watching young writers find their voice, and more importantly, the discipline to turn an abstract love for storytelling into a tangible thing that they can hold in their hand. For several years, she facilitated young writers groups under the umbrella of the Florida Writers Association. She is a frequent speaker at online and in-person conferences on writing, publishing, brand marketing, and social media advertising.
